Classroom Procedures and Expectations

Arrival to Class When you arrive at our class, I will greet you in the hallway. If I am not in the room or the door is shut, line up in a STRAIGHT line until I open the door or return. Students will go to their assigned seats. Once you come in, you cannot leave! When you enter the classroom please get your materials ready for class. ALWAYS have a sharpened pencil. Read the board for instructions on anything else you may need. Begin writing in your agenda/calendar.

When Class Begins (Bell) The bell ringing means class has begun. At the bell, you are to begin your warm-up exercise. Your warm-up exercise will be on the board or given to you when you enter the room. There should be no talking or moving about during the bell ringer. You may not get up unless you ask. This means to sharpen your pencil or throw away trash.

Expectations During Instruction Please give the teacher your full attention. Do not talk while the teacher is talking. Please wait to be recognized by the teacher before you begin speaking. Do not start assignments until the teacher gives you the signal to begin. DO NOT SHOUT OUT! Bathroom breaks are at the teacher’s discretion. I will not allow many bathroom breaks, use your passing period! You may not get up unless you ask. This means to sharpen your pencil or throw away trash.

General Classroom Expectations Respect others personal space including not touching others. Be respectful of everyone and everything. Always show your work; this helps me help you. Absolutely no phones, I will take them up. Allow others to finish speaking before you start speaking. No food or drink other than water.

Prompts I say “ Mistakes…” You say “Matter!” This means attention back to me. No more talking and focus!

End of Class Dismissal I will inform you when it is time for class dismissal. Clean-up your work area and put away anything used in the classroom. If you borrowed a pencil, we will not leave until I get them all back. I will then give you permission to leave the classroom.
