Playground Safety

PLAYGROUND RULES Hands to yourself. Play on the side of the big sidewalk that is away from the school building. Games, such as football or tag, are to be touch only. No tackling is allowed. If a ball, or other item, goes into the street, have an adult get it for you. Please leave sticks on the ground. No spitting. Do not play on, or around, the chain link fence.

BIG TOY RULES NEVER hang upside down anywhere on the big toy. No tag on the big toy. Tag should be played in the grass areas. Please keep your hands to yourself. Don’t jump off ladders, or platforms, that are higher than your waist.

SLIDES Go down the slides. You may not run up the slides. Ride on your bottom, feet first. People should slide down one at a time. Slide all the way to the bottom. Don’t block the slide.

MONKEY BARS One at time, going in the same direction. You may not jump up to reach the monkey bars. Start on a platform that allows you to reach the first bar without having to jump. Chicken fighting is not allowed. No pulling, or pushing, people who are on the monkey bars. Please stay off the top of the monkey bars. Don’t run under the monkey bars when people are on them.

TUNNELS, SLIDING POLES, LADDERS Go through the tunnels, not on top of them. Go through the tunnels without blocking other people. Hands and feet should always be in contact with the sliding poles. Feet should always be below your head and hands. No hanging upside down. Don’t stand underneath someone who is using the poles.

SWINGS One person at a time on a swing. Ride on your bottoms only. You must propel yourself. You may not be pushed by another student. Walk around the swings. Do not walk directly in front, or in back, of people swinging. You must stop the swing with your feet and climb off the swing. Jumping off a swing is not allowed. Please do not climb up the swing set poles.

SLIDER (ZIP LINE) Do not jump off of the platform to reach the handle. If you can’t reach the handle without jumping, you can’t use it. You must use two hands on the handle. Do not touch someone when they are using The Slider. Do not stand under The Slider when someone else is using it.

TWISTER One, or two, people may ride The Twister. You must spin yourself. Keep your feet on the platform, and hold on with two hands. Do not stick your arm, or legs, inside The Twister to try and stop it from spinning.
