Passive Voice Active Voice: The thief stole the money. Subject Verb Object Active Voice: The thief stole the money. Passive Voice: The money was stolen. When do we use the Passive Voice? When we want to focus more on the action (the verb) than the subject. 2. When we don’t know who did the action Example: A man was killed in Ourzazate yesterday. How to form the Passive Voice: 1. Start the sentence with the object of the active sentence (The money ). 2. Add the verb “to be” conjugated to the tense of the active sentence (was). 3. Add the past participle of the main verb (stolen).
