About AACRAO A non-profit, voluntary, professional association made up of more than 11,000 members who represent approximately 2,600 institutions from more than 40 countries AACRAO is a non-profit, voluntary, professional association of more than 11,000 higher education professionals who represent approximately 2,600 institutions in more than 40 countries. Its mission is to provide professional development, guidelines, and voluntary standards to be used by higher education officials regarding the best practices in records management, admissions, enrollment management, administrative information technology, and student services. AACRAO represents institutions in every part of the higher education community, from large public institutions to small, private liberal arts colleges.

AACRAO Updates Upcoming AACRAO elections FERPA Training AACRAO Core Competencies and Proficiencies Comprehensive Student Record Project (Lumina Grant) AACRAO Work Group on Student Identity Upcoming AACRAO Elections Open from Monday, October 2 through Friday, November 3, 2017. All active AACRAO members are eligible to submit a ballot for he next AACRAO President, Vice President for International Education, Vice President for Leadership and Management Development, Vice President at Large, and the 2018-2019 Nominations and Elections Committee.  FERPA Training   AACRAO worked with TeachPrivacy to develop an online, interactive FERPA training program that institutions can deploy on their own learning management systems. AACRAO Core Competencies and Proficiencies AACRAO has developed a set of Core Competencies and Proficiencies to help with your professional development and help you advance in the professions of registrar, admissions, and enrollment management. We are aligning many of our professional development opportunities to the new core competencies and proficiencies and are developing tools to help you assess your current knowledge and skills. Those of you attending the upcoming SEM conference or the Annual Meeting will see that many of the sessions are aligned to the core competencies and proficiencies. Comprehensive Student Record Project (Lumina Grant) AACRAO and NASPA, with funding from the Lumina Foundation, worked with 12 colleges and universities to help develop new models for recording and presenting student learning. The work of the grant ended in December of 2016 but Lumina has generously funded another round of work on comprehensive student records. Details of the new projects should be available soon. AACRAO Work Groups The AACRAO Board of Directors occasionally establishes work groups to address emerging issues impacting our professions. The work group on Disciplinary Notations on Transcripts published their report earlier this year. We have also established a work group on Student Identity to develop practices guidance to help serve transgender students and students who wish to update their gender marker, change their legal name, use a preferred name, or designate a pronoun. Their report is expected by December of this year..
