TEXT STRUCTURES

Text Structure is the Organizational Pattern found in non-fiction.

Chronological Order/ Sequence Follows a step by step approach or describes an event in the specific order as it occurred. (Describes in terms of TIME). Key Words Next, first, last, second, another, then, after, additionally, initially, before, not long after, when etc.

Spatial Order A place or event is described in with respect to its relationship to other things in terms of location. Vividly describes the topic/experience. Key Words Next, beside, around, under, above, before, (prepositional words)

Order of Importance A main idea is supported by details according to their effectiveness. Key Words For instance, for example, furthermore, in addition to, such as, also, in fact, Most importantly
