Task 1 Demonstrate positive work ethic.

What are ethics? Ethics are generally accepted rules that guide our decisions about right & wrong. Different than morals, which are based on personal values Considers who is affected by the action and how

Ethics in the Workplace What does positive work ethic look like? Follow company policies & procedures Demonstrate the following personal qualities or traits: Dependability Efficiency Enthusiasm Honesty Loyalty Modesty Positive Attitude

Examples of Positive Work Ethic (PWE) Demonstrate consistency. Attendance & Performance Be punctual. 10-15 minutes early; ready to work at the start of a shift Accept constructive criticism. Be respectful; know when to lead & when to follow Be prepared & take initiative. Ready to work; does things without being asked How do you define positive work ethic? How can a positive work ethic guide your behavior at work? Why is a positive work ethic valued by teachers and employers? Where did you acquire attitudes and beliefs regarding a work ethic? Is it possible to change attitudes and behaviors? What resources are available to help you strengthen your work ethic?

Task 2 Demonstrate integrity.

Demonstrate Integrity Integrity refers to an individual’s personal code of conduct and good character. Examples include: exhibiting honesty and reliability remembering that your actions & behavior affect others using sick and personal days only when necessary

Task 3 Demonstrate teamwork skills.

Demonstrating Teamwork Skills Teamwork means contributing to the success of the group. Examples of teamwork skills include: brainstorming solutions knowing when to ask for help supporting team leaders and assisting co-workers volunteering What team skills are helpful at school? In the workplace? What are the various roles of team members? What are the consequences of using the strengths of team members? Of not using the strengths of team members? What can you do to integrate a new person into your group or team?

Closure List three personal qualities that are considered to be essential workplace readiness skills. Choose one quality, and give an example of how you will demonstrate it in school today.
