The electoral college was created in case the people voting made a “mistake” How are the number of electoral votes per state decided? Votes are decided by population How does a candidate win the Presidency? The system is winner take all. If a candidate wins the popular vote or majority vote for a state, they get all of the electoral votes for the state. First person to 270 electoral votes wins. Are Electoral Votes proportionate to the popular vote for each state? No, the system is winner takes all Can a candidate win the election without winning the popular vote for the entire country? The candidate wins by having the most electoral votes. If the popular vote of the other candidate is more, but their combination of electoral votes is less. The candidate with more ELECTORAL VOTES wins
