2  The candidate that receives the majority of electoral votes wins the presidency.  538 total need 270 to win  Each state total of senators and members of the House of Representatives determine how many votes they get for president.  Several state with three  California 55  Nevada 6  State legislatures will choose manner of selecting electors.  If no candidate gets the majority, the House of Representatives will vote. One vote per state.  Electors originally intended to use their own judgment in choosing a president

3  People of the states are voting for the electors of the electoral college.  48 states are “winner takes all” for electoral votes.  In most cases the electors choose the candidate that won the most votes in the states.  The electors meet in December to vote for president and Congress reveals the vote on January 6.
