District Accountability Report Lennox District School Board October 9, 2017

South Dakota’s Accountability System 100-point School Performance Index (SPI) Three key indicators with a numeric value assigned to each to measure each school’s performance. Values are added together to create a total SPI score out of 100 points. South Dakota will transition to the Every Student Succeeds Act, for the 2017-18 school year. Because this is the final year of the transition from the waiver to ESSA, schools have new SPI scores but classifications remain those that were made in 2015.

Ranking as a state Indicators that create SPI Points (School Performance Index) Elementary/JH (Grades 3-8) Student Achievement Academic Growth Attendance High School (Grade 11 only) High School Completion College and Career Readiness (ACT, Accuplacer, NCRC)

Indicator #1: Academic Achievement (Elementary, Middle, High) Smarter Balanced Assessment performance (Given to students in grades 3-8 + 11) English Language Arts Math Reported as percentage of students who scored a level 3 or 4 in ELA and math. points earned for GAP group and NON-GAP group points are weighted according to size of the group

Indicator #2 (Elem./Middle School): Academic Growth Student Growth Percentiles Based on a formula for projected, three-year growth A student’s test scores are compared with scores of students with similar score histories (academic peers) Shows how much a student grew relative to his/her academic peers (ie. A student with an SGP of 65 performed better than 65% of his/her academic peers)

High School Completer Rate Percentage of students in most recently completed school year who attained a diploma or GED Four-year Graduation cohort Rate Percentage of students in most recently completed school year who graduate with a HS diploma in four years

Indicator #3: (Elem./Middle School): Attendance Based on the goal that 94% of our students will be in school 94% of the time. SPI shows the percentage of students who were in school 94% of they days they were enrolled in school

Increased SPI by 9.23 points as compared to 2015-2016

Increased SPI by about 6 points from the previous year
