Presentation Topic A-F Report Card Review of the Law Report Card Indicators Report Card Prototype Questions and Answers

2 WHY? It’s the Law. ACT No requires the State Superintendent of Education to develop a school grading system reflective of school and district performance. State-authorized assessments and other key performance indicators were used to create a profile of the School and School System. Each School and School System in the State of Alabama has been assigned a letter grade in accordance with State Legislation. Start with the law behind what we are doing… It is the legislature that wants this.

Determined based on individual Student Growth Percentile (SGP) – which measures students who demonstrate improvement in reading and math from one year to the next using multiple years of data. Growth Category Weight SGP Low (L) 25 % or less Average (A) 1.00 25%- 75% High (H) 1.50 75% or more The Academic Growth indicator score is based on the weighted growth categories outlined in the table. Chronic Absenteeism points are based on students present (by subtracting the Chronic Absenteeism Indicator Score from 100 before multiplying by the Chronic Absenteeism weight).
