NICET Fire Alarm Tech Level 1 Practice Test # 3 © Ted Smith 2017

Instructions Be sure to place this presentation in Slide Show Mode if it is not already in that mode before proceeding The purpose of this drill is to help you improve your skill at finding answers to questions using the applicable fire codes and also to help increase your knowledge of the Fire Alarm codes. Each slide will contain a question. The question will remain in the screen for a period of 2 minutes. At the end of the two minutes, a notification will sound and the slide will transition to the next slide which will have the correct answer to the question. After 15 seconds the next question will appear and the process will continue. During the test do not worry about the correct answers when those slide appear. You will be given an opportunity to review the answers with out the time at the end of the test. Click on the slide to start the timer and begin the test

answer B. System control unit 7.7.2

Electrical Theory What is the amount of power created by an EMF of 12V and a current of 15A?

Answer 180 watts

Electrical Theory What is the amount of voltage drop experienced if a 24 volt circuit, carrying 2.6 amperes is flowing from the Fire Alarm control panel to a smoke detector located 280 feet from the panel. The wire is a 16 AWG copper conductor.

answer 7.28 volts 2KDI/CM=VD

Electrical Theory What is the current in a circuit that is 12 volts and has a power of 36 watts?

Answer 3 A

Electrical Theory What is the resistance in a 12 volt circuit that has a current of 1.2 amperes?

Answer 10 ohms E/I=R

Electrical Theory What is the total resistance of a circuit if there are five resistors wired in parallel? The value of the resistors are: 1500 ohms, 200 ohms, 1000 ohms, 2000 ohms and 1800 ohms.

Answer 129.5 ohms 1/(1/R1+1/R2+1/R3+1/R4+1/R5)= Total Resistance

Electrical Theory The total opposition to the flow of current in an AC circuit is called: A. Resistance B. Reactance C. Impedance D. Power Factor

Answer C. Impedance
