Definition of Facility Management Facility management is a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.

What is IFMA? Mission: IFMA is a member-centric association that exists to guide and develop facility management professionals by providing exceptional services, products, resources and opportunities. Founded in 1980, currently based in Houston, TX Represents over 24,000 facility managers worldwide Maintains over 130 chapters (geographically-based) Supports 17 councils (industry-based) Hosts World Workplace and Facility Fusion Offers online courses, publishes newsletter & magazine

What is the Chicago Chapter? Founded in 1982, IFMA Chicago's mission is to advance the profession of Facilities Management and to support the professional growth and development of facilities managers in the Chicago land area. Provides programs that advance our members' professional education, Creates networking and information sharing opportunities, Fosters the attainment of CFM designation, acting as an information resource, promoting synergy between professional and associate members, Recognizes members' achievements in the field and championing initiatives that make our members better corporate citizens (e.g., sustainability and community service initiatives.)
