Reflexology By: Camille Ibi

Background Information: There is some evidence to support that foot massage has been used for thousands of years, but modern reflexology has only been around for a couple decades. In the 100 years since William H. Fitzgerald developed his pioneering Zone technique, reflexology has been one of the most accepted therapies. It has improved tremendously over the years and there are many other advanced techniques practiced all over the globe.

What is Reflexology? Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet, hands and ears. Reflexology is generally relaxing and may be an effective way to alleviate stress.

Where’d It originate from? The origins of reflexology go back to many diverse cultures. One theory is that reflexology originated in China about 5,000 years ago. Others also claim it was used in India, Egypt and Babylonia. The oldest evidence we have is a pictograph found on a tomb in Egypt dated around 2,330 BC.

Purpose: The purpose of reflexology was to relieve stress Promote healing and wellness by stimulating the nerves Diminishes pain sensations Stress and anxiety Digestive disorders Menstrual and menopausal problems Headaches and migraines Sinus problems Breathing disorders Back pain Sleep problems Skin conditions

We use reflexology to relieve pain from our central nervous system. Why do we use it? We use reflexology to relieve pain from our central nervous system.

Does reflexology really work This is an opinion someone has. There is really no right or wrong answer. But it is scientifically proven to work on most everyone who has tried it.
