Peer Review (write feedback on a Post-It!) SWBAT draft the first two body paragraphs of their Argumentative essays by including two pieces of text evidence (each paragraph) using two different resources. Peer Review (write feedback on a Post-It!) Exchange your introduction with your partner. Provide verbal feedback to your partner on how his/her introduction can be improved. Questions to ask yourself while reading your partner’s work: Is the hook thought provoking? Does my partner introduce the two sources and give a brief summary of each? Is the thesis statement clear? Are all parts of the introduction placed in the correct order?

SWBAT draft the first two body paragraphs of their Argumentative essays by including two pieces of text evidence (each paragraph) using two different resources. Body paragraphs 1 and 2 These body paragraphs are used to support your thesis statement. Body 1 = Reason 1, Body 2 = Reason 2 How will you organize these paragraphs? What transition words will you use? Two direct quotes are needed in each of these two body paragraphs. Remember to use your own words in addition to direct quotes. Use the facts to beef up your paragraph and strengthen your argument! Also remember to give your reasons in order of importance. Follow checklist on your organizers!

Text Evidence w/citation Explanation of evidence SWBAT draft the first two body paragraphs of their Argumentative essays by including two pieces of text evidence (each paragraph) using two different resources. Reason 2 Text Evidence w/citation Explanation of evidence Reason 1 Topic sentence about reason why video games are or aren’t menaces to society.

SWBAT draft the first two body paragraphs of their Argumentative essays by including two pieces of text evidence (each paragraph) using two different resources. Given the severity of any sicknesses or diseases one can get on Everest, one should really reconsider how much worth there is in climbing the mountain. In “Dangers on Everest,” White states, “HAPE is not just your common cold. The common cold goes away, HAPE does not. The effects it has on your body stay with you just as long as your accomplishments do” (pg.10). In other words, mountain sicknesses, like HAPE, can leave metaphorical scars on a climber’s health; yes, he/she may have summited, but now the climber will pay the physical price, for life. Also, diseases contracted on the mountain can scar the climber’s mind. “Summit Fever doesn’t go away when the climber leaves the mountain. His ambition and determination to keep climber, no matter the cost, can psychologically destroy him” (White, pg. 11). Not only does the climber’s body suffer from permanent damage, but his mentality and thought processes can become clouded, as well.

SWBAT draft the first two body paragraphs of their Argumentative essays by including two pieces of text evidence (each paragraph) using two different resources. Today’s goals: 1) Choose 4 pieces of text evidence – 2 for each reason – by referring back to your Y’s and N’s that you annotated in your articles. 2) Begin writing your body paragraphs. Finish at least one today. I will walk around the room to assist. *Use the checklist on the graphic organizer!

SWBAT draft the first two body paragraphs of their Argumentative essays by including two pieces of text evidence (each paragraph) using two different resources. Turn & Talk: How is a body paragraph in an argumentative essay different from a body paragraph in an expository or literary essay? Answer: In an Argumentative essay body paragraph, the writer uses facts to support reasons for his/her claim. Within the body paragraphs need to be constant references to the original claim.
