TTUHSC Libraries Website Tutorial Terri Wilson Associate Director Harrington Library of the Health Sciences

Read the “Notes” section of each slide for detailed information about what the slide covers.

Start by going to the TTUHSC Libraries’ homepage at http://www. ttuhsc Start by going to the TTUHSC Libraries’ homepage at http://www.ttuhsc.edu/libraries/ You can click on one of the two Enter here links to get to the main content of the website.

The tabs at the top of the page provide links to some of the most used areas of all three branches of the Libraries.

One of the most important tabs for Pharmacy students and faculty is the one that takes you to most often used electronic resources for Pharmacy. To get to that page, mouseover the arrow on the School/Program tab. A drop-down menu of links to each school’s resources page will appear. Scroll down to Pharmacy and click on it.

This page has direct links to the most frequently used pharmacy resources from the TTUHSC Libraries. Under Frequently Used Databases you will find things like Lexi-Comp and Micromedex, which offer a full range of information about medications, and Natural Medicines, which is devoted entirely to alternative medicines. Under Frequently Used eBooks you will find titles such as DiPiro’s and Trissel’s, as well as Access Pharmacy, which contains many essential pharmacy textbooks. Under Frequently Used Journals you will find direct links to the journals most often used by pharmacy faculty and researchers. Under Other Resources you will find PowerPoint presentations like this one, as well as other useful tutorials and tools as they become available.

Back on the main content page, in the left column are tabs to the four major sections that most patrons use on our website: Databases, Journals (Gold Rush), Books (print and electronic), and Interlibrary Loan.

At the top of the list is the Databases A-Z tab, which is an alphabetical list of all of our electronic databases.

You can search for a database in multiple ways You can search for a database in multiple ways. You can use the Subjects drop-down list to search for databases by subject areas like Pharmacy, Nursing, Physical Therapy, etc. You can search for Database Types like Citation Databases, Evidence Based Databases, Images Databases, etc. If you know the name of specific Vendors/Providers like Stat!Ref, Ovid, or Ebsco, you can go directly to their main webpage. Or if you know the name of a specific database that you want to use, you can type the name in the Search box or browse through the alphabetical list.

The next tab on the main content page is the eJournals tab, which takes you to Gold Rush, the list of all journals to which we subscribe in both electronic and print. If whatever database you’re in doesn’t show a link to full text, always double check in Gold Rush to see if we have access to the journal through some other source.

The Books and eBooks tab takes you to the page where you can search for both the print and electronic books that the TTUHSC Libraries own.

If you need to borrow material that is not accessible from your campus’ library branch or owned by any of the TTUHSC libraries, you can fill out an online request form by clicking on the Document Delivery & ILL tab.

Farther down the left column are links directly to our most often used resources. This can save you time by eliminating the need to go to the Pharmacy Resources page or the Databases A-Z page.

In the center column are more links to the Libraries’ most used services.

Of special interest is the link to Citation Tools Of special interest is the link to Citation Tools. Clicking on this link will take you to a page with information on EndNote, RefWorks, the AMA Style Guide, and more.

The tabs at the top will take you to pages that will help you access style guide resources, install bibliographic software, and more.

In the right column you can fine useful links to each library branch’s operating hours, a System status section to let you know if we are having network issues with a particular resource, and a section of links to our social networking sites, as well as to library news and events.

And remember you can always send questions to the TTUHSC Librarians, live chat with a librarian during weekday work hours, or read an FAQ that might have the answer to your specific question. The buttons for these three tools are always in the top right corner of every webpage on the Libraries’ website.
