Deut. 30:19 -20. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

And what shall I more say And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Hebrews 11:32-34

God is faithful 2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. Psalms 119:90  Your faithfulness endures to all generations;  Lam. 3:23 Great is your faithfulness. Psalm 33:4 For the Word of the Lord is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness.

We can trust God to be faithful to us forever. Malachi 3:6 I am the Lord, I do not change. Psalm 102:27 You remain the same and your years will never end.

Why Remember? We are reminded of God’s everlasting faithfulness.

To be Encouraged to say no to sin today Why Remember? To be Encouraged to say no to sin today -We all know the consequences of sin.

Cain and Abel: Genesis 4:9 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, When you work the ground, it will no longer yield it’s crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.

Result of Cain’s sin: – He had to move away – His work would be much more difficult, He would be a restless wanderer on the earth. Wycliffe Bible Commentary – “Insecurity, restlessness, hard struggle, guilt and fears were to be his constant companions. It was a dismal, discouraging prospect”

To be Encouraged to say no to sin today Why Remember? To be Encouraged to say no to sin today -The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 -The soul who sins is the one who will die. Ezekiel 18:4 -The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6 -Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction. Romans 6:8 -But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

To be Encouraged to press on in the future Why Remember? To be Encouraged to press on in the future Hebrews 12:1-3 -A great cloud of witnesses -Throw off everything that hinders -Run with perseverance -Fixing our eyes on Jesus -Not grow weary and loose heart.  

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Phil 3:14

I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. II Cor. 12:15

Why Remember? To help us move forward with perseverance in serving God well.
