10 But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble. To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; For God is my defense, My God of mercy Psalm 59:16-17

11 The Decline of Customer Service
You’re welcome! Service is not what it was Our expectations decrease Customers have changed too - “people, today, are comfortable with saying ‘No problem’ rather than ‘You’re welcome’ after a nice comment or a service is performed for them. ‘No problem’ has a personal root. It really means ‘No problem for me !’ It means ‘ I did it because it did not cause me a problem.’ That is much different from ‘You’re welcome.’ ‘You’re welcome’ is directed away from the personal. It means you are welcome to my service (or kind words) to you . ‘No problem’ means ‘ I served you because it did not interfere with me. ’ No problem!

12 A Shift in Public Thinking
“It is about me” No “social contract”

13 What is an Unfair Expectation
Something: You have no right to expect You expect to receive and not give

14 Can We Have Unfair Spiritual Expectations?

15 Unfair Expectations of God
Israel expected that God: Would deliver them unconditionally They have lied about the LORD, and said, "It is not He. Neither will evil come upon us, nor shall we see sword or famine” Jeremiah 5:12

16 Unfair Expectations of God
Many expect God: Will save them unconditionally "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we ……done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!‘ Matthew 7:22-23

17 Unfair Expectations of God
I can put God on the backburner, but God cannot do the same to me

18 Unfair Expectations of God
Imagine if we treated work like our Faith: We don’t work when something arises We only work when it is convenient We degrade our product Should we still expect a paycheck?

19 Unfair Expectations of God
God is merciful, but also just We cannot expect unlimited Grace "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.“ Mark 8:38

20 Unfair Expectations From Men
Others ought to be more considerate I shouldn't have to make time for others Demanding more than we give

21 Unfair Expectations From Men
Philippians 2:3-7 - Have the Mind of Christ Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? Corinthians 6:7

22 Unfair Expectations of Ourselves
Expectation of spiritual growth I will grow without working at it I should be greater than I am

23 Unfair Expectations of Ourselves
Patience with ourselves "But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Luke 8:15 "By your patience possess your souls.” Luke 21:19

24 Unfair Expectations of Ourselves
Patience with ourselves Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand James 5:7-8

25

26 Expectation of Salvation
'And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.‘ Acts 22:16 “….Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life Revelation 2:10b
