8 Hebrews 11:30-32 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. 31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. 32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthah; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

9 Hebrews 11:33-35 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

10 Hebrews 11:36-38 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

11 Hebrews 11:39-40 39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

12 INTRODUCTION: Without faith it is impossible to please God;
without faith it is impossible to live the Christian life.

13 FAITH BELIEVES GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE (Heb. 11:30)
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

14 FAITH BELIEVES GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE (Heb. 11:30)
This public and corporate expression of faith in the power of God was important for building up the faith of those who were going into the land of Canaan.

15 FAITH BELIEVES GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE (Heb. 11:30)
The preacher is reminding his congregation and us of the importance of believing in things that cannot be seen and promises that have not yet been fulfilled.

16 FAITH MEANS BELIEVING GOD WHEN YOU CANNOT IMAGINE THAT HE LOVES YOU (Heb. 11:31)
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

17 FAITH MEANS BELIEVING GOD WHEN YOU CANNOT IMAGINE THAT HE LOVES YOU (Heb. 11:31)
No one is excluded to trusts in God. Faith admits absolutely everyone into the privileges of God’s people.

18

19 Rahab’s story proves that absolutely anyone can receive the blessings which have been purchased for us by Jesus Christ, if we will only believe and trust Him by faith.

20 FAITH MEANS BELIEVING GOD IS KEY TO EVERY GENUINE SPIRITUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN LIFE (Heb. 11:32-34)
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthah; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

21 FAITH MEANS BELIEVING GOD IS KEY TO EVERY GENUINE SPIRITUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN LIFE (Heb. 11:32-34)
These amazing feats were not attained by human strategy, but because these people of faith were dependent upon God; and because they trusted God, He accomplished these things for them and through them.

22 FAITH MEANS BELIEVING GOD IS KEY TO EVERY GENUINE SPIRITUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN LIFE (Heb. 11:32-34)
Faith is essential to every true spiritual accomplishment in the Christian life.

23 FAITH BELIEVES GOD IS ESSENTIAL TO ENDURING THE T & T OF LIFE (Heb
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

24 FAITH BELIEVES GOD IS ESSENTIAL TO ENDURING THE T & T OF LIFE (Heb
The preacher tells his congregation (who were also facing persecution), “Don’t turn your back on Christ in the time of persecution. Trust and endure like your forebears in the faith did.”

25 FAITH BELIEVES GOD ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO OUR FINAL BREATH (Heb
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

26 FAITH BELIEVES GOD ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO OUR FINAL BREATH (Heb
In these verses the preacher refreshes our memory of the connection between faith, the fellowship of the saints, and the plan of God. No part of the Christian community can be complete without the rest.

27 FAITH BELIEVES GOD ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO OUR FINAL BREATH (Heb
If God led the O.T. saints to glory by types and shadows, sights and prefigurements of the gospel, then can’t we believe now in the time of our pilgrimage, when we know the Savior has come and we have heard His Word from the mouths of the apostles?

28 FAITH BELIEVES GOD ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO OUR FINAL BREATH (Heb
We’re never done with faith. It is necessary to the very end, all the way through to the resurrection.
