Germany’s Capital Germany’s capital is Berlin. The latitude of Berlin is 52.520007, and the longitude of Berlin is 13.404954.

Major Bodies of Water A major body of water in Germany is the Elbe River which empties into the North Sea.

Highest Point in Germany The highest point in Germany is the Zugspitze which is 2,962 m above sea level and is the highest point in the Wetterstein Mountains.

Most Famous Sport The most famous sport in Germany is football or also known as soccer.

Popular Festival A popular festival in Germany is the Berlin International Film Festival which is celebrated every year during the month of February. This festival recognizes about 400 films made from about 130 countries for international distribution.

Exported Goods and Famous Companies Some exported goods and famous companies in Germany are the Volkswagen Group which makes cars and trucks, Allianz which has diversified insurance, and the BMW group which makes cars and trucks.

European Union Germany is a part of the European Union and it joined in 1951.

Famous Celebrity A famous celebrity in Germany is Manuel Neuer who is a famous soccer player in Germany.

Political Leader A political leader in Germany is Angela Merkel who is and has been Chancellor of Germany since 2005.

World War I Germany was involved in World War I and was in the Central Powers. Germany invested $45 billion in the war.

World War II Germany was involved on World War II. Germany was on the side of the Axis powers with Italy and Japan. Germany invested a large amount of the $13 billion that the United States invested into the War.

Current Leader The current leader of Germany is the chancellor Angela Merkel.

System of Government Germany’s system of government is the Federal Republic of Germany which is democratic emphasizing the protection of individual liberty and division of powers in a federal structure.

German History An important event in Germany’s history is in 1990 East and West Germany were reunited.

Famous Landmark A famous landmark in Germany is the Brandenburg Gate which is a grand classical archway and city divide.

Population Germany’s population is about 80,000,000 as of 2016.

Religion Germany’s most practiced religion is Christianity. Christianity is about 65-70% of the population.

Climate and Weather Germany’s climate region is moderate and the weather there does not stay hot or cold for a long period of time.

Languages In Germany, the most frequently spoken language is German which is 95% of the population, English which is 17% but mostly spoken as a second language, and Sorbian which is 0.09% of Germany’s population.

Relationship with the United States Germany’s relationship with the United States is good because Germany is one of the United States’ closest allies and partners outside of the European Union.
