What is a sonnet?

What is a haiku?

A form of Japanese poetry, usually consisting of only three lines *A form of Japanese poetry, usually consisting of only three lines *Lines 1 and 3 have 5 syllables *Line 2 has 7 Syllables * Does not rhyme * The topic is easy to figure out

What is a limerick? A five-line poem with a rhyme scheme of aabba; limericks are meant to be funny, with the last line delivering the “punch line”

How to write a limerick: The first, second and fifth lines rhyme with each other and have the same number of syllables (typically 8 or 9).

How to write a limerick… The third and fourth lines rhyme with each other and have the same number of syllables (typically 5 or 6).  

How to write a limerick… Limericks often start with the line "There once was a..." or "There was a..."
