5. Free Verse Free Verse is an “open form of poetry.” Does not use consistent rhyme or meter patterns. Instead it follows the “natural” rhythm of speech Poets choose to write in free verse because they have more freedom to express themselves since they are not held to any “rules” that govern other poetry styles.

Limericks Limericks: a five line silly poem that is usually funny or nonsensical Guidelines: The first, second, and fifth lines have to rhyme with each other and have the same number of syllables [usually 8 or 9].
