Buildings have a huge impact on the environment Buildings have a huge impact on the environment. They tax our resources, they contribute to global warming, they are where we spend as much as 90% of our time

Here are average savings of green buildings. According to a study by Capital E, green building save at least 30-50% in terms of energy, reduce carbon emission by 35%, reduce water use by 30-50% and save costs on waste of 70%.

LEED encompasses new building and neighborhood design, construction, and the continuous operations of the built environment. The LEED Rating Systems apply to many different building types such as: retail stores, hospitals, office buildings and homes.

• Assist participants in integrating green building design, construction, and operations into their standard business practices using LEED technical standard and guidance; • Provide a cost-effective path to achieving LEED certification on a volume scale; • Recognize companies for significant green building commitments and achievements; • Foster a network of investors, developers, owners, and managers committed to systemically greening their building portfolios; and • Support participating organizations in fulfilling their sustainability commitments by providing solid performance metrics that can be given to stakeholders.

This graphic illustrates the different scenarios that volume certification applies to.

The applicant will be required to submit information for each credit on their Quality Control process. This should address the specific strategies that the applicant will use to consistently deliver projects that meet the requirements of each credit. The Result: a series of completed checklists, design review reports, construction submittals, etc. that are used by the applicant in delivery of completed buildings. These should be retained by the applicant for verification that quality control is being maintained. The format for this has not yet been determined.

These should be retained by applicant for verification that quality control is being maintained. The format for this has not yet been determined.

These should address who is responsible for meeting new requirements (such as local design and construction teams) and who will review that new requirements have been met (such as corporate review of local work, or project managers that review on-site procedures). In essence, everyone should understand what their role is in delivering green buildings. Evidence supplied for review could be training meeting presentations, required readings, ect. The format for this has not yet been determined.
