Rotary: Making a Difference An Excerpt from RI President Ian Riseley’s Address at the International Assembly in San Diego, CA in January, 2017 “Our service will be guided, as it should be, by the three strategic priorities our Rotary International Board has set for all of Rotary in our current strategic plan: (1)to support and strengthen our clubs (2) to focus and increase our humanitarian service and (3) to enhance Rotary’s public image and awareness. So how do we support and strengthen our clubs? We start by giving them the tools to be successful. In Rotary, we know that we can do more together than we could ever hope to do alone.”

Service Awards (Recognitions) So, here’s how it might work as a planning tool for your club. This is the Community service award. It is a Word document that you can download and annotate. Here, yellow denotes those items we normally do. The red and purple are items to work on for the year. Notice the beginning and end dates. So, next spring it is an easy matter to turn in your application. Talk about the “old way” here. Now it is non-competitive. Every club can technically achieve “Exemplary” in each service area. This is not T-ball tho…you must do the work. The documentation is now simple and fair.
