Personalized Pathway Courses that lead to a specific post high school career or educational outcome chosen by the student and based on the student’s interests and High School and Beyond Plan; intended to provide a focus for the student’s learning. Student may request a waiver of up to 2 credits within the 24-credit framework (1 Art credit; 1 or 2 credits of World Language).

Credit for courses taken in Middle School Middle school students can receive high school credit for classes taken in middle school. Request form from Mrs. Markel once you arrive at RHS or at any point before graduation. Math and Foreign Language Once grades are recorded on transcript, they cannot be removed!

CTE Dual Credit Allows students to earn high school and college credit at the same time. 85% or better Courses: Advanced Plant Science, Automotive, Careers in Ed, Microsoft Office, Intro to Marketing, Careers and Financial Literacy

AVID Elective Class Advancement Via Individual Determination Commitment to the program for 4 years Addresses organization, time management, study skills, and navigating the college and scholarship application process. Interview/Teacher Recommendation

Tri-Tech Skills Center Available to students starting Junior Year Applications are accepted in March of Sophomore year Opportunity to learn skills to be successful in entry-level jobs while earning HS credit and possibly college credit Bus Transportation is provided Culinary, Dental, Radio, Nursing (credit equiv)

Running Start CBC and WSU-TC Informational meeting in February of Sophomore year Earn both HS and College credit Richland SD pays the college tuition Family responsible for transportation and fees Open to 11th and 12th graders; Placement test

College in the High School Gives students opportunity to take college courses while remaining on RHS campus Courses taught by RHS teachers Courses available in 10-12th grade Must pass a college placement test Earn college credit/build official college transcript $35 per credit/CWU

Advanced Placement (AP) courses Challenging college level courses (all subjects) Taken at RHS Other than prerequisites, the only requirement for becoming an AP student is willingness to work hard! Student pays to take AP Exam in May Colleges grant credit or waive courses

Credit/Grade for Repeated Courses If student repeats a course to improve grade or GPA, student requests “Credit/Grade for Repeated Courses” from Mrs. Markel. The higher of the 2 grades will be calculated into the student’s GPA. Credit will only count once towards graduation credits.

Earn credits before August Incoming 9th graders should consider Summer School to earn high school credit. Upon completion of 8th grade, students can register for Summer School…online registration in May (rsd.edu) APEX courses (health, PE…) 50-70 hours for a semester class Tuition Tri-Tech Summer School (May 15/Free)

Master Schedule We are all excited to provide information to help you and your student make important scheduling decisions! RHS offerings are based on student enrollment and interest in a class (registration each spring) SELECT COURSES CAREFULLY!!!! The choices made will determine student and teacher schedules in the fall. Schedule changes will only be done under exceptional circumstances.
