New course offerings are indicated with an asterisk (*) Refer to course catalog online at Write selected course number in the Number column

4 New Courses for AP Physics 2 - completion of AP Physics 1 with a C or better Team & Individual Sports (Unified PE)- application required If 4 semesters of Core PE is complete Exploring Computer Science- elective course part of the new Software and Systems Development Pathway Pre-requisite- B or higher in Math 1 Chinese 1 AB (P) Rehabilitation Therapy Careers (CTE) – 2 period course This course is designed to provide the student with opportunities to learn transferable skills related to entry-level occupational and physical therapy occupations, explore career options, and become knowledgeable with post-secondary educational requirements as related to such careers options. These courses will be offered based on student enrollment

5 12th Grade Schedule AP Literature: ERWC- default English class
Bible Lit C or higher in Eng. 11 and teacher rec Eng 1A (Dual credit)- Placement based on passing CCC English placement test 3.0 GPA or 2.5 GPA with teacher recommendation AP Literature: Score of 4/Exceeding Standard on SBAC ELA A or B in AP Comp or A in Eng.11

6 12th Grade Schedule PE Write in the number next to Physical Education choice. Sports PE- write course number for your specific sport (.A , .B, etc.) Cross-Age PE requires a signature from your current PE teacher. Team & Individual Sports (Unified PE)- application required Students with 2 or more AP classes have the option of Directed Studies PE, if 4 sem. of Core PE is complete. CART and CTE will waive PE; if 4 sem. of Core PE is complete.

7 12th Grade Schedule Gov/Econ Write in the course numbers for Gov/Econ
AP Gov A or B in AP US History and AP Comp or A or B in US History and English 11 with teacher recommendation AP Macro or Micro Econ A or B in AP US History, AP Comp, and Honors Math 3 or A or B in US History, English 11, and Math 3 with teacher recommendation AP Micro Econ Prefer concurrent enrollment in AMA, AP Calc. AB or BC AP Micro Econ- taking this course will allow students to take 2 AP exams (Micro and Macro)

8 AP Courses Student should have: solid work ethic, self motivated, solid reading, writing and thinking skills Students taking AP courses are expected to take the AP exam in May AP courses may include a summer assignment Be aware of your course load. A balanced schedule is important. Students will be required to complete the CNEC AP Agreement form before being enrolled Students will not be allowed to enroll in additional AP courses once school starts!

9 12th Grade Schedule Math/Elective
Write in the course number next to the Math/Elective course choice. Students are placed in math classes based on semester grade. 2nd semester grade will be checked before confirming student placement for You need 2 years of math to graduate (Math 1 and Math 2) CSU/UC require 3 years (up through Math 3), but 4 years is recommended

10 12th Grade Schedule Science/Elective
Write in the course number next to the Science/Elective course choice. You need 1 Year of Life Science and 1 Year of Physical Science to graduate The minimum requirement for CSU/UC is Biology and Chemistry/Physics, but 3 years is recommended

11 12th Grade Schedule Electives
Write the course number in the box provided Please choose your electives carefully! Unless there are special circumstances, students must remain in their chosen elective for the entire school year. All students will need to choose 2 Alternate Elective courses. Stagecraft- application required

12 World Language Spanish, French and Chinese are offered
2 years of World Language is required by the CSU/UC schools (3 years is highly recommended)

13 Other Elective Options
Performing Arts Most performing art electives have unlimited seating Application Electives (A) Applications were due Jan. 31st which included all teacher recommendations (Peer Counseling, Leadership, Service Leadership (Unified Mentoring) & Yearbook) CART/CTE Speak with your counselor about these course options CART requires an online application, that was due by February 10th CTE does not require an application Refer to your brochures for additional information

14 AVID Designed for motivated students who want to be exceptional
AVID is an elective class offered to motivated students who would like to prepare for four-year universities. The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note-taking and study skills, as well as college, career, and motivational activities. Students must commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis. Helpful for students who struggle with time management/organization Other requirements for applicants are satisfactory citizenship, good attendance, and a G.P.A. of

15 Summer School Students planning to apply to a 4 year college should repeat any semester grades of D. Students who received an F should repeat those courses over the summer to meet graduation requirements Be sure to indicate which course you need to repeat on your registration form under Summer School Plans

16 Summer School Purpose: Summer school is primarily designed for remediation or making up deficiencies toward graduation. Location: Clovis West High School (Independent Studies) Kastner Intermediate (Face to Face) Dates: Independent Study Summer School June 13th thru July 26th Regular Summer School June 19th thru July 27th Time: 8:30am-2:35pm Attendance: Students will be dropped on their 2nd absence. No exceptions will be made.

Refer to your course catalog online Remember- the catalog includes courses offered at all High Schools in CUSD. Take home these materials and review them with your parents No parent signature = no registration! AP contracts will be due at registration Registration form is due to your English teacher on March 6th Registration will be on March 8th and March 9th in the Library Lecture Hall.
