Cyberbullying and Today’s Children By Kristin Halmi

What Is Cyberbullying? Cyber Bullying comes in many forms. However, the definition states that "Cyberbullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.

Forms of Cyberbullying Sending humilating or hurtful e-mails to pupils Repetitive and unwanted texting, e-mailing, etc. Using message boards or chat forums to post harassing comments Sending viruses Using spyware devices

Forms of Cyberbullying continued… Hacking into another person’s account Using facebook/myspace and other social networking sites in order to make groups against a certain student or students Forwarding private images of another student The forms that cyberbullying may come in are virtually endless.

How To Prevent Cyberbullying? Unfortunately it is very difficult to stop all forms of cyberbullying, because they all form from different reasons. As a teacher, we will be able to teach the warning signs of cyberbullying, and how important it is to not engage it it. There are various ant-bullying programs in effect in schools.
