Naming, Saving, & Retrieving Files C 2012jkc

1 To save a file, click File on the menu bar and select Save As on the drop-down menu to get the Save As dialog box shown below left. 2 Type the file name in the File name window following the proper format (section #_project #_student name_classperiod) as shown, then make sure that the Save in: window shows the folder name that you want to save the file to, and click Save. C 2012jkc

To open a saved file in the My Documents folder, click start, and then the My Documents folder to view the contents of the My Documents folder C 2012jkc

Locate the file to be retrieved/opened and double-click on the icon (for example the file we saved earlier: 6.1 project 1 juan malimanga 9th period) C 2012jkc

If you want to create a folder in which all your files may be stored, right-click on a blank space in the My Documents folder (the white space) and select New, then Folder on the drop-down menus that appear. The new folder will appear as in the next slide. C 2012jkc

Click and drag the files you already created into your folder. C 2012jkc

If you want to save your folder in your flash drive, right-click your folder to get the drop-down menu shown and select copy, to copy the folder C 2012jkc

To save your folder to your flash drive (after you have already copied your folder as in the previous slide), click start, then My Computer to get the My Computer window shown on the next slide. C 2012jkc

Right-click on the Removable Disk icon to get the drop-down menu shown and select paste to save your folder to the flash drive. C 2012jkc
