Faces About Reindeers By Gelsey Maina

Appearance Reindeers have two color coats. Reindeers have a dark summer coat and a lighter color winter coat. Reindeers bodies are covered with a dark summer coat and a lighter color coat. The dark summer coat helps them camouflage in the summer so anther animals wont eat them and the lighter winter coat Reindeers are smaller then Caribous. Reindeers are about 4 feet (1.2m )tall at the shoulder about 6 feet (1.8m) long that is really big and long. There is no differences between a male and female Reindeers. Every Reindeer both bulls (male) and cow (females) have antlers.

Appearances Help them camouflage in the winter so another animal could not see them. Reindeers hooves are very wide and splayed.

Habitat Reindeers can live all over the world where its cold. Reindeers can be found in the Arctic tundra, forests and mountains in Russia, Northern China,Canada, Alaska and Scandinavia. Where Reindeers live it is very cold so they migrate great distances. I think they migrate because it is hard to find food. Reindeers have paws to walk in the snow. To live where it is cold they have to have special things to live. Reindeers have white tails and necks. Reindeers have unique hairs which trap air providing them with excellent insulation and helps the reindeer float in the water. Imagine you float in the water with no floaty.

Eating Habits Reindeers are herbivores (plant eaters).Reindeers eat lichens, Moss,Months and leaves. Imagine just eating plants!

Wrap up I hope you learned a lot of facts about Reindeers.
