IRIS BiH Network

ABOUT IRIS BiH NETWORK IRIS BiH was founded in 2012 supported by CSF program/EC. 20 members of the BiH National Network, 4 members per sector dealing with Elderly people, PwDs, children and youth at risk, gender based and domestic violence, migrants (Roma and refugees, DP and IDPs). VISION tendency to use in a most efficient way limited technical and financial resources to support beneficiaries in need. MISSION To improve the quality and availability of social services through the structural reforms of the legislative framework in the field of social protection; To strengthen CSO social service providers to become equal partner to public sector at the local, cantonal, entity and Brcko District level; To share experience, best practices and resources with aim to support beneficiaries in need throughout BiH; Active lobbying and advocacy to ensure social inclusion and equal access to social services for all citizens of BiH.

FACTS ON IRIS BiH NETWORK Pillar 1: Capacity Building of CSOs and networks of CSOs Annual Congresses of the IRIS BiH network, Strategic Plan and 3 Action Plans; Pilot summer school on social services; Traineeship program for young people engaged in the IRIS network in EU-based countries; Three Small Grant Facilities received on thematic advocacy issues for preventing and combating violence against women, effective social inclusion of Roma and palliative care for elderly people; Mentoring program Introducing ISO standards in CSO management system

FACTS ON IRIS BIH NETWORK Pillar 2: Social Policy Influencing Creation of Policy Paper: “Development of social services at the local level” National advocacy campaign: “Action Plan for the establishment of new and improvement of existing social welfare services in the municipality of Bijeljina for the period 2016-2018” and Strategic plan for improving social protection in municipality Kalesija for the period 2016-2018. Promotion of the CSO role//Case studies “Development of social and health services of the civil society organisation as a support system based on the beneficiary needs - Palliative care for elderly and ill person “RUHAMA” Zenica”

THE IMPORTANCE OF IRIS BiH NETWORK Stronger CSOs impact in terms of arranging faster achievement of vision and mission and program goals of individual association and advocacy for sustainability of service; Rational use of existing resources of CSOs for the achievement of common goals; Improvement of the capacity of social services providers and the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practice; Joint advocacy and lobbying, common occurrence, developing common project initiatives, joint fundraising activities; Stronger CSO’s influence on decision making process and creation of public policies and the participation of CSOs in the creation of the public policies of the interest to BiH citizens; Strengthen the role of CSOs social service providers throughout BiH and network members are recognized as equal partners by the public sector;

THE IMPORTANCE OF IRIS BiH NETWORK Active lobbing for the improvement of the outsourcing practices between public and civil sector and creation of public civil partnership for long term sustainability; Strengthen cooperation between public and civil sector and establish tripartite cooperation between CSOs, Gov’t and CSR; To follow up the implementation of social services on local levels /Monitoring of provision of social services; Commitment of social services in accordance with the beneficiary needs and adjustment of legal regulations; The BiH National Network is the first of this kind in BiH.
