What is an Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)? provides assistance for those going through personal difficulties for employees and eligible family members confidential voluntary

What types of services are offered? marriage/relationship addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling) anger management depression anxiety/stress sexuality grief and loss child and adolescent behaviour

What is the benefit of using the services? a place to go for help professional & confidential counselling effective problem prevention better understanding of self and others willingness to face problems and follow through with changes overcoming personal and professional challenges positive change and personal growth healthier kids, stronger families & vibrant communities

What is the benefit to my employer? personal problems can affect attention on the job, risk of accidents happy employees make a better work environment happy, healthy employees contribute to a productive work site fewer resignations and less training costs if employees enjoy being at work

Who is covered? employees partners and dependents those on the employees benefit plan partners and dependents can access service without employee

What kind of coverage do we have? between 5 and 8 sessions are available depending on the issue employees can access the service again in the same year for different reasons intent is for brief service - clients with longer term concerns are referred to community resources

Is the EFAP confidential? no identifying information will reach management or anyone else at work site the employer will get usage statistics i.e. how many individuals accessed services (no personal information) any information to be released requires your signed consent (i.e. if you want the counsellor to talk to your doctor)

Who provides the service? professional counsellors with Masters degrees members of professional associations counsellors are trained and have experience in: marriage and family therapy, anger management, drug and alcohol, cognitive behavioural therapy, etc. clients are seen at the counsellors private offices

How do we access services? just call 1-800-481-5511 or complete a form online on the Walmsley website www.walmsley.ca

Wellness Library you may just need some information and don’t need to see a counsellor a variety of topics such as depression, anxiety, anger, addictions, etc. self help resources – apps, videos, podcasts, books online tests and assessments, e.g. anger, stress, wellbeing, depression etc. get username/password from posters, HR or info@walmsley.ca www.walmsley.ca

Conclusion the EFAP is about helping individuals maintain their health and balance healthy employees have healthy families and make a healthy workplace healthy employees have less accidents services for employees and families are easy to access the service is confidential self-help material in the Wellness Library for those who don’t need to see a counsellor
