2 Student LifeLine – An Orientation to the Program Being a student is all about new adventures and exciting changes but it often means facing tough challenges and dealing with new pressures. We want students to know that they are not alone, and support is available through Student LifeLine – a comprehensive Student Assistance Program. Whether a student is having trouble adjusting to living arrangements, missing family and friends, struggling with their studies or finances, trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle or dealing with stress and overload, Student LifeLine is there when you need assistance.

3 Program Overview Student LifeLine is a professional support service for maintaining a healthy balance between school and your everyday life. Full-service student assistance program and wellness resource. No cost for you to use the program – this is one of your student benefits. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (bilingual in English and French) Voluntary and confidential Toll-free phone number to access support for all questions and concerns Program website www.lifeworks.com offers live chat, articles, blogs, podcasts, self assessments, interactive tools, recordings and educational materialswww.lifeworks.com Counselling (immediate crisis and short term counselling) Referrals to campus and community resources Consultations Information/Research conducted on your behalf

4 Our Counselling Approach Short-term, solution-focused. Up to 3 session counselling model. Number of sessions varies and is determined on a case-by-case basis Counselling may take place in-person, over the telephone or by video (live via webcam over the Internet) Our counsellors must: -Have a minimum of five years’ experience -Hold a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or other human services field and be members of their respective professional body -Adhere to our service and quality standards
