Homework Spellings will be given every week. We would encourage children not just to learn the spelling but to know the definition of the word and be able to use it within a sentence (either orally or written). Each week your child will have a mental maths target to learn. This will depend on specific class targets and the child as an individual. For example, learn number bonds to ten or learn the two times table along with division facts. Every week your child will either have a more structured piece of homework linked to their maths or English learning in class or a more creative piece aimed at developing your child’s independent thinking skills. In years 5 and 6 the children will have a termly project linked to work in class to develop their independent research skills.
