3. ACTIVATE BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE WHEN WAS THIS WRITTEN? WHERE WAS THIS WRITTEN? BY WHOM? USE TO PREDICT, INFER, INFORM

4. INTERACT WITH THE TEXT UNDERLINE MARK UP! REFLECT ON IDEAS REACT PREDICT

5. METACOGNITION THINK ABOUT YOUR OWN PROCESSES OF READING STOP AND CLARIFY “FIX UP” COMPREHENSION AS NEEDED EVALUATE PREDICTIONS
