What is Parkinson's? is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system Parkinson's disease result from the death of dopamine-generating cells in a region of the midbrain; the cause of this cell death is unknown. More common in men and around age 50 or 60 Symptoms: Trembling of hands, arms, legs, jaw and face, Stiffness of the arms, legs and trunk , Slowness of movement , Poor balance and coordination

Causes some cases, however, can be attributed to known genetic factors. PD traditionally has been considered a non-genetic disorder around 15% of individuals with PD have a first-degree relative who has the disease. 5% of people are now known to have forms of the disease that occur because of a mutation of one of several specific genes.

Medicine & Surgery Levodopa Dopamine Brain surgery for PD is considered for individuals who experience disabling tremors, wearing off spells, and medication-induced dyskinesia. Deep brain stimulation, is the most recent advance in this rapidly evolving field. Surgery can be dramatically effective in some patients. In others, it may have only limited success

physical therapy cannot cure Parkinson's disease, neurological damage cannot be reversed. therapy can enable you to compensate for the changes brought about by the condition. Can help with: Balance problems, Lack of coordination, Fatigue, Pain, Gait, Immobility, Weakness

recovery There is no cure Progressive disease that gets worst with age. May cause death
