2017 Responsive Grants Conference Call for Prospective Grantees Thursday, January 12, 2017 – 10:00 a.m.

Agenda Welcome Overview of St. Louis Philanthropic Organization Review 2017 Responsive Grants Program and Application

History Began in 1984 as a result of a lawsuit Currently governed by a ten-member Board of Directors Allocated over $7 million since 1984

Mission Statement “The St. Louis Philanthropic Organization, Inc. provides funding and capacity building to nonprofits organizations whose programs and services advance the quality of life for St. Louis City Residents.”

Guiding Principles Impact Focused Community Oriented Commitment Accountability Equity Respect

Promotion of Equity “When one can no longer predict advantage or disadvantage based on race/ethnicity, gender and gender identity, or ability” Joint Affinity Group Practice and support fair treatment, opportunity and advancement for the City’s most vulnerable populations Partner with others to eliminate disparities that undermine their quality of life. Reduce the opportunity gap between upper middle and upper income populations and lower income, working poor and middle class populations. Promote justice, impartiality and fairness both internally and externally within the procedures, processes and distribution of resources by institutions or systems.

2017 Responsive Grants Up to $10,000 Programs and Services that support City Residents Programs and Services that Promote Equity Contingency Grant Request Additional Questions

Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria Screening Criteria Align with SLPO mission, targeted population and maximum grant request amount Complete with requested # of copies and attachments – Certificate of Good Standing Good standing with SLPO Promote Equity

Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria Application Review Questions used as a guide for Board Members Review the questions listed for each application section Types of requests that typically will not be funded by the SLPO

Changes to the Application Page 1 (Date Established, Year Program Began, Grant Classification) Pages 6 and 7 – Added revenue line for SLPO Page 8 – Revenue secured to date in Proposed Budget and Contingency Plan

2017 Application and Process Submission of Application and Required Documentation – February 3rd by 4:30 p.m. Organizations will be notified in April 2017 Checks will be disbursed upon receipt of Grant Acceptance Letter SLPO Staff Support and Office Hours – Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
