1 Hartford Arts Jobs Grant Information Session
Thursday, August 24, 2017 10 – 11:00 AM Supporting arts-related employment for Hartford youth at non-profit organizations based in Hartford during the 2018 calendar year. The Hartford Arts Jobs Grant program is a collaboration of the City of Hartford and the Greater Hartford Arts Council.

4 Deadlines and Timeline
Intent to Apply Deadline Sept. 7, 2017 Intent to Apply Notification Sept. 14, 2017 Application Deadline Oct. 12, 2017 Award Notification Late November Project Timeframe Jan 1, 2018 – Dec 31, 2018

5 Who can Apply? Non-profit Organization
(Must hold current 501(c)3 status) Primary physical address in the City of Hartford Must demonstrate experience and expertise working with this group Show proof of Connecticut Mandated Reporter Training if working with youth ages 16-18 Demonstrate alignment with GHAC community impact goals.

6 We can’t fund… Institutions of higher education or individual departments of colleges and universities; Organizations with a primary focus of school day programs for pre-K through 12th grade students that are not primarily arts based; Organizations whose primary programming focus is after school programs or summer camps that are not primarily arts based; Public broadcasting media, radio and television stations; Churches or church-affiliated organizations receiving a significant portion of their base support from a church or religious organization; Governmental institutions and agencies, e.g. public libraries, park and recreational facilities, schools, etc.

7 Who does funding support?
16 – 21 years olds Residents of the City of Hartford Low to moderate household income Paid at or above minimum wage ($10.10/hour) Work the equivalent of at least 19 hours per week

8 What kind of work? Focuses on artistic skill development
Sets goals for personal growth Offers core career skills

9 About the Request Requests may be between $5,000 - $15,000
Matching funds are not required Grant funds may be used only to compensate youth Employment takes place between January 1 – December 31, 2018 An Intent to Apply is required Application by invitation only Funding will probably not be available again next year

10 Questions You Will Need to Answer
What is the work? Who will supervise it? What is the compensation? How will the work address the program’s learning goals? How will you document low/moderate income? How will you measure success? How will you recruit? How will you ensure safety? What happens if you don’t receive funding?

11 About the Grant Grant contract required
Employment roster required to document expenses Final report required Payout schedule determined by length of project Changes to employment roster must be reported immediately Interim employment roster may be required for longer projects

Connecticut Mandated Reporting Training certificates Staff & Board List Letters Committing Collaboration (if applicable) Most recent IRS 990-tax form (plus board-approved financial statement if you file form 990-N) Copy of 501(c)(3) Letter of Determination

15 Community Impact Goals
Your organization’s programs must clearly align with one or more of the Arts Council’s 5 community impact goals You will be asked to identify two core programs and show how they align with these goals You DO NOT have to demonstrate impact in all areas, but demonstrating impact in more than one area is highly recommended. Impact is judged relative to the capacity of your organization
