Contrast is the arrangement of opposite elements to create visual interest. EMPHASIS Emphasis is a principle of art that occurs any time an element in an artwork is given dominance by the artist. In other words, the artist makes part of the artwork stand out in order to draw the viewer’s eye there first. This is also known as a focal point.
