What was the Progressive Era?

Bellwork Read the short passage by Ida Tarbell. On a separate sheet of paper, come up with your definition of what you think a “muckraker” is. Then answer questions 1-3

The goal of the Progressive Era was to correct the problems caused by industrialization. Hull House in Chicago, IL; founded by Jane Addams in 1889 

The reforms were intended to promote political and economic change through government intervention. President Theodore Roosevelt (1901 – 1909) President Woodrow Wilson (1913 – 1921)

During the Progressive Era, writers called muckrakers published articles and novels to make Americans aware of problems (muck) in society.
