2nd Grade News October 2016 We are off to a great start in 2nd Grade! Inside the Classroom Social Studies: SOL 2.12. Students will identify George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Helen Keller, Jackie Robinson, and Martin Luther King, Jr. as Americans whose contributions improved the lives of other Americans Science: SOL 2.1 Students will plan and conduct scientific investigations 2.2 Students will investigate natural and artificial magnets Math: SOL 2.20 Students will identify and recognize patterns. SOL 2.1 Students will read, write, and identify place value in 3-digit numbers. SOL 2.1 Students will round numbers to the nearest ten. 2.5 Students will recall addition and subtraction facts and (2.9) recognize and describe related facts. Health SOL 2.2: student will identify that personal health decisions and health habits influence health and wellness. Language Arts: Students work daily on reading fluency skills and comprehension. We are working on expanding our vocabulary, phonetic strategies, making predictions and connections. SOL 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 2.10. In Writers Workshop students are working on non-fiction writing and will explore authors as mentors, SOL 2.11, 2.12, 2.14.
