Problem For most of the year, Utah’s air quality is among the best in the nation, but sometimes in the summer and winter local weather patterns lead to poor air conditions. Poor air quality limits our ability to enjoy Utah’s natural beauty and surroundings, and it impacts the health of Utah’s population, and for those already with asthma or other lung diseases it is a conflict.

Main causes of air pollution

Solution Here are a few ways to reduce air pollution. 1)  Lower your thermostat.    2) Carpool.  3)  Don't idle.    4)  Resist wood burning.   5)  Use the public transit system.

Relation to Earth science Air pollution includes greenhouse gases. One of these is carbon dioxide, a common part of the exhaust from cars and trucks. Greenhouse gases cause global warming by trapping heat from the Sun in the Earth’s atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are a natural part of Earth’s atmosphere

Call to action There are many things we can do to stop pollution and improve or air quality in Utah. I invite everyone to find better transportation, and if you are close enough to the school walk or ride a bike.
