The Greenhouse Effect Earth Day 2007 Valerie Hamey

What is the Greenhouse Effect?  The Greenhouse Effect is also known as global warming.  The Greenhouse Effect is caused by excessive amounts of Carbon Dioxide (CO 2 ) that is released into the atmosphere.

How is so much Carbon Dioxide being released into the atmosphere?  Carbon Dioxide is released into the atmosphere when fuel is burned.  Transportation and driving is now considered as an everyday occurrence which is causing our CO 2 levels to steadily increase causing the greenhouse effect to become more serious. These levels are also increasing because the number of industries and plants are multiplying because of our population increase, which also causes more CO 2 to be released into the atmosphere.

Why is the greenhouse effect so harmful to our earth?  The greenhouse effect is harmful to our earth because the carbon dioxide is serving as a blanket over the earth which causes the earth to trap an excessive amount of heat close to the surface of the earth.

What can we do to fix this problem?  Plants and trees are responsible for taking the carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen, which is necessary for life; however, since the ratio of CO 2 is so much greater than the amount of trees and plants that remain on earth the plants are unable to process such an excessive amount of CO 2. Knowing that if everyone could plant more trees and if people would stop destroying the rain forests, plants, and the trees then our CO 2 would decrease.

Another way we can reduce the CO2 levels is to…. Since the burning of fuel causes the extensive amount of carbon dioxide we can participate in carpools or take the bus to places rather than driving and burning so much fuel.Since the burning of fuel causes the extensive amount of carbon dioxide we can participate in carpools or take the bus to places rather than driving and burning so much fuel.

Thank You….  Thank you for watching this presentation of the greenhouse effect. I hope this has made this problem apparent to everyone and I hope that everyone will participate in the fight against the greenhouse effect!!! HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!!!! HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!!!!
