1. Nucleolus Largest structure inside the nucleus Ribosome synthesis/production 1.

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum A network of membranes throughout the cytoplasm of the cell. Helps to assemble the ribosomes. 2.

3. Cell Membrane The cell membrane holds the cell together Semi-permeable Allows substances into and out of the cell. 3.

Lysosome acts as the waste disposal system of the cell by digesting unwanted materials 4.

Golgi apparatus Responsible for sorting, packaging, and shipping the proteins produced in the ER.   5.

6. Nucleus The nucleus controls the cell. It contains the cell’s DNA (genetic info and instructions for making proteins) 6.

Cytoplasm the watery gel inside a cell. It holds the ORGANelles. 7.

8. Ribosomes Play an important role in the synthesis of proteins. Some ribosomes are found in the cytoplasm, but most are attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. Found in both Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes 8.

9. Mitochondria Organelle that produces energy for the cell. The “power house” 9.

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum A network of membranes throughout the cytoplasm of the cell. It helps to move materials around the cell. 10.

Vacuoles Vacuoles are spaces in the cytoplasm where food, water and chemicals are stored 11.

12. Flagella Can be found in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells Used for movement 12.

13. Cell Wall They make the cell strong and rigid-support Cell Walls are found plants, fungi, bacteria and some protists NEVER found in animal cells 13.
