Required Supplies: Composition NB Binder of your choice Notebook paper Pencils Suggested Supplies: Ear buds Colored pencils or markers Glue Sticks Helpful Class Donations: Kleenex Clorox Wipes Use of technology is encouraged, but technology may be used for educational purposes only. It is a privilege, not a right. If you abuse it, you lose it. 8th Grade Math Mrs. Gina Crider gcrider@cartersville.k12.ga.us Homework Policy Homework each night. Homework posted on O365 and sent via Remind text daily. Sign up for class text alerts for updates on homework, tests, quizzes and other important information. You can also download the Remind app to be able to “talk/text” with Mrs. Crider for help. Information and help will be given on the first day of school. Communication w/Mrs. Crider: Email (listed above) Remind App Chat 770-382-3666 (leave message) What does a flipped classroom look like? In math, we will be “flipping” our class. This means that what you have traditionally called homework (practice,) will now be what we do in class and what was done in class (lectures) will be homework. This allows students to learn basic content in their own time, at their own pace, and in their own place. In Class: Mini-lesson over homework Practice New skills and Hands on Activities More resources for help (teacher and peers) At Home: Watch Video. Can pause, rewind or replay Take Notes and complete assessment

Classroom Expectations Grading All assignments are expected on the due date. There will be a 30% penalty for any assignment not turned in on time. Utilize Power School to view your student’s progress. If you need the log-in information please check with the front office. Grades will be based on a combination of daily work, quizzes, tests, projects, tasks, etc. The grades will be weighted as follows: 60% Summative (Including, but not limited to: tests, projects and exams.) 40% Formative (Including, but not limited to: quizzes, classwork, homework, and notebook checks) Classroom Expectations Come to class prepared with binder, Interactive Math Notebook, pencil, and assignments. Start working on the “Do Now!” as soon as you enter class. Turn all Assignments in on due date. While you were out… Yes – we did something important while you were gone. It is your responsibility to check with the teacher, O365 or the Extra Worksheet Crate located in the student supply center to find out what you missed. Watching HW Videos: If a student does not have internet access or a device at home, it is the student’s responsibility to watch the video the following morning at school. The student is allowed to go to the Homework Help Room which will change locations every nine weeks. All of these rooms will be open from 7:15-7:40 Monday-Friday. 1st 9 Weeks: Mrs. Huth ~ Room 803 2nd 9 Weeks: Mrs. Crider ~ Room 804 3rd 9 Weeks: Mrs. Craig ~ Room 815 4th 9 Weeks: Mrs. Gridley ~ Room 833 Test and Quizzes Standard-Based Grading will be used on tests and quizzes. Standard-Based Grading involves measuring students' proficiency on well-defined course standards. Students will be allowed to Re-Take Chapter and Unit Tests. Re-Takes must be completed within a week of receiving the graded test back.
