YA Strengthening Sailing Review Australian Sports Commission funded Conducted by “Sports Business” All stakeholders including YV and representative member clubs consulted

Strengthening Sailing Key Findings Recognise significant improvements in sailing’s high performance programs – AST The structure of sailing is fragmented 9 Strategic Plans across YA & States MYA’s are under resourced Federal structure is ineffective & inefficient Growing pains in becoming more professional YA’s key focus should be sailing (MYA’s should manage boating interests)

Strengthening Sail Key Findings Overall participation has stagnated or is in decline in some areas Participation pathway into sailing is complex and perceived as being expensive for new entrants compared to other sports Lack of consistency in ‘product offering’ YA focus is on high performance Desirable to have a national growth strategy
