It’s sew simple to make a patchwork pincushion.

Pillowcase Fabric Arts I

PIN Lay out pillowcase body (with the pinch side facing up). Put right sides together and pin. Line up the edges.

Sewing cuff to body Make sure machine is set at straight stitch Sew cuff to the body with a straight stitch, following the number 15 (make sure you see the 5 not the 1) Make sure machine is set at straight stitch

Zig Zag Set machine to zig zag (08). Make sure left of the presser foot is next to straight stitch Trim threads next to fabric

Trim & Iron Trim next to zig zag stitch Iron seam towards the cuff Iron towards band Iron seam towards the cuff

Fold 1/2” Using a hem gauge, starting at the seam, fold 1/2” to the inside. Pins should look like the picture. Iron in between pins. Iron in between the pins.

Fold Cuff Fold cuff so that it’s 1/8” covering the stitching line. Pin through all layers.

Topstitching Cuff Sew on the right side. Line the left side of the presser foot with the folded edge of the cuff. Take pins out as you go and make sure you are going through all 3 layers! Sew slow.

Match seams & Pin Match seams Pin side Pin bottom Put right sides together and match seams. Put one pin in seam first then pin from seam outward. Pin all the way from top of the cuff to bottom of the body. Then pin the bottom of the pillowcase.

Sewing Side & Bottom Straight stitch the sides and bottom at 15 or 5/8”. Make sure you see the 5 not the 1. Pivot at the corner. Zig zag on the 10. Trim threads next to zig zag and corners at an angle. Iron to one side

Seams Make sure your seams match up

Now you are ready to embroider! 
