Make sure this is protected if you’re use the dinning room table!

You can put the machine on the table after the cutting is done. But protect the table!

Measuring Your Pillow  Take the tape measurer and measure Length Width  Write those figures down  Add 5 inches to the length  Add ½ inch to the width

Width + ½ inch (Two Times) That will make the top and bottom of the pillowcase (Folded) Length + 5 inches Tape measurer Pillow of choice Where and How to Measure

Fabric Needed From Measurements Length+ 5 inches= Total Length Width+ ½ inch= Total Width 2 * Total Length + 2 * Total Width= Total Fabric

Laying Out Your Fabric  Wash the material first  See what side of the material is the right or wrong side.  Fold the wrong sides of the fabric together Wrong sides together  The part you want to see when you have put the pillowcase on your pillow is the right side of the fabric You will be turning it inside out after you do the sewing. (Just like your shirt or socks you turn them inside out to put them on, right?)

Folding The Fabric The wrong side of fabric faces you What will be the (right side) outside of the fabric when it is turned Right side of fabric (You will want that on the inside) Wrong side of fabric (You will want that on the outside) Folded edge

Marking Your Measurements  Mark the length and width on the wrong side of the fabric. Use the marking pens or pencils for this so you can see the lines on the fabric when you are ready to cut. Use the ruler or yardstick to make a straight line.  Make sure you have added the Totals for the final measurements you need from your chart.

Marked Fabric Ruler and/or yardstick Wrong side of fabric facing you Folded edge of fabric

Cutting Step  After you have your lines drawn for the width and length  Start cutting on the lines that you have drawn  Two cuts and that is done  See that was easy!

Mark Your Outer Hem Fold Measure from the edge 2 ½ inches This will be your fold line for the hem of the pillowcase

Get The Sewing Machine Setup  Set up the sewing machine on the table of choice so you can work at it.  Choose the tread, and thread the machine  Wind the bobbin for the bottom thread  Put the bobbin in  Don’t forget to plug it in the wall outlet  Put a guide on the machine to make a straight line as you sew, set it at ½ inch from the needle to the guide
