Purpose of ITBio To prepare students to succeed in Biology next year Study skills: Review, quizzes/tests Organizational skills Best practices for a successful student: Work in on time, complete home/classwork Interpersonal skills, working in a group Lab safety and following instructions Basic Biology concepts, extra practice

Topics Covered Scientific Method Lab lingo, procedures Basics of Ecology, Chemistry of Life, Cell Bio, DNA, genetics, evolution, physiology Textbook comprehension, learning strategies, vocabulary, routines, writing in science, using scientific vocabulary, presentations, research

Classroom expectations Respect: Act responsibly, appropriately, and respectfully to others. Language: Use appropriate language and appropriate topics of conversation. On Time and Work Hard: Be in class ON TIME and be ready to work hard. Safety and Clean Up: Be safe and clean up after yourself (Especially for labs).

Grading Scale The scale used for grading is: Grading is based upon: A 90.00 - 100% 35% - Unit Tests/Quizzes B 80.00 - 89.99% 25% - Labs/Projects C 70.00 – 79.99% 20% - Classwork/Notebook D 60.00 – 69.99% 15% - Semester Final F Below 60% 5% - Homework

Extra Credit Opportunities Earn up to 10 points in classwork grade. You can complete only 1 extra credit assignment per week (Can’t exceed 8 assignments) 1) Science Literature report 2) Science museum write-up 3) Create your own!
