How is the Mass a meal?? With your partner, mindmap the ways, from what you have learnt this lesson.

God invites us to His meal, because He wants to share His goodness with us. In the Old Testament, God said to the Jews: “Go to the one place where the Lord your God has chosen to be worshiped; take some food, or buy whatever you want—beef, lamb, wine, beer—and there, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families are to eat and enjoy yourselves. (Deut 14) In the New Testament, Jesus said to the Jews, “If you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in yourselves.  Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on the last day. For my flesh is the real food; my blood is the real drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me, and I live in them. John 6:53-58 Underline what God asks us to eat in the Old Testament in the New Testament. Explain 2 differences between God’s meal in the Old Testament, and Jesus’ meal in the New Testament How is the food Jesus is offering us different from other food? What does eating it do for us? **Do you think that the Mass today still has the character of a celebration meal as in the OT? Why/ why not?
