READY Model Components: High School End-of-Course Assessments in English II, Biology and Math I Graduation Rate: The percentage of students who graduate in four years or less. The ACT: The percentage of students meeting the UNC system admissions requirement of a composite score of 17. Math Course Rigor: The percentage of graduates taking and passing high-level math courses such as Math III. WorkKeys – For Career and Technical Education concentrators (students who have earned four CTE credits in a career cluster), the percentage of concentrator graduates who were awarded at least a Silver Level Career Readiness Certificate based on WorkKeys assessments. Graduation Project – The accountability report will note whether a school requires students to complete a graduation project.
Accountability Measures Performance: The percentage of students who score at Achievement Levels I-V. Achievement Levels III-V are considered Proficient. Achievement Level III is considered Grade-level Proficient. Achievement Levels IV and V are considered Career and College Ready. Performance Composite: The percentage of the test scores in the school at or above expected achievement level (Level III) Growth: An indication of the rate at which students in the school learned over the past year. The standard is roughly equivalent to a year’s worth of growth for a year of instruction. Growth is reported for each school as Exceeded Growth Expectations; Met Growth Expectations; or Did Not Meet Growth Expectations.

Growth Percent of Schools Meeting or Exceeding Expectations Exceeds Met School growth is calculated using all end-of-grade and end-of-course test scores by an Educator Value-Added Assessment System (SAS). The system looks at where a child was on the previous year’s test and compares that result to the current test. They determine where they fall in the range of all the children across the state. It is then calculated on a normal curve. If a student maintains their position, even if it is below the state average, then the student has met growth. Not Met

Career and Technical Education (CTE) District Proficiency 79.0% NHCS students earned 1334 industry credentials Credentials earned include NCCER, Microsoft Office, CPR, Ever-FI, First Aide, Nurse Aide I, OSHA, Serve-Safe, Wise Financial, and the National Career Readiness Certificate. NHCS students earned 623 Career Readiness Certificates (CRC) by demonstrating proficiency on the WorkKeys assessment.
