This is a high school course. Must follow high school rules for absences. There are no semester exams or finals anymore (in academic high school courses). Don’t schedule appoints or trips on the days of STAAR.
Algebra STAAR Eighth grade Algebra students will be taking the 9th grade STAAR EOC. End of Course Exam (EOC) Tuesday, May 7th They will NOT be taking the 8th grade Math STAAR test in March. But, they will take all other 8th grade STAAR tests (Reading, Social Studies, and Science).
Homework Assignments All homework assignments can be turned in for half credit anytime during the six weeks. Each day is originally worth 20 points so a late assignment is worth 10 points. Late assignments must be turned in by the last Wednesday of the grading period. Assignment MUST be complete Graded on completion only.
Quizzes The “fix” for a failed quiz is going to be the test. If a student makes a higher grade on the test, the quiz grade will be replaced with the test grade (with a maximum score being 70).
Tests Students that fail a test will have until the next test to do corrections. Corrections are to be done on a clean sheet paper or a test correction form. If any student gets the test signed (and returned the next school day), they will also receive 5 bonus quiz points to be added to a future quiz. Students that fail will be able to recover credit up to a 70 provided they show work with their new answers and the new answers are all correct. ( 70 - test grade ) = points for each # missed correction
